TWolfPack We Interrupt This Program ...

This is a test of the Timberwolves Emergency Broadcast System. The media of your area in voluntary cooperation with the Federal, State and local authorities have developed this system to keep you informed in the event of a Timberwolves trade rumor. If this had been an actual trade, this warning would have been followed by official information, news or instructions. This concludes this test of the Timberwolves Emergency Broadcast System. TWolfPack 2010 NBA Fantasy Draft: Picks 6-10

editor's note: TWolfPack.com is proud to present to you the 2010 NBA Fantasy Draft. TWolfPack member Chad Cox and I have taken it upon ourselves to not only draft the starting lineups for every team in the league (each of us picked every other pick) but also present our decisions as if the draft took place live on ESPN. We'll post five new picks every couple of days until we're through the first round, and then post the subsequent rounds in their entirety. If you don't feel like reading the EContinue

TWolfPack Working the Trade Machine

I'm not going to worry too much about stats in this post and mostly go by what I've seen, but this is the best trade I could come up with for the Wolves to add size and length to their frontcourt. Timberwolves trade Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes and Ryan Hollins to Chicago for Luol Deng, Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas. There are multiple reasons why this trade would work ... • The Wolves lack of size up front has been glaring this season and many feel that the team will eventually need to pick eithe… Continue

TWolfPack Understanding the Wolves Cap Situation

There have been a lot of numbers thrown out there lately regarding how far under the salary cap the Wolves will be in the offseason of 2010. I've heard that we'll have enough money to offer a max contract, but I've also heard that we'll barely have more than the mid-level exception to spend. So let's explore the rules of the salary cap and see if we can't figure out a true number, and then take a look at a few options the Wolves might have in regards to using that cap space. Factor 1: EstimContinue

TWolfPack Following the Latest Rumors

It's been a while since the Timberwolves were a high profile member of the NBA rumor mill. Over the summer it seemed as if there would be some hot gossip about our favorite club every third day, but ever since the season began we've been in "wait and see" mode trying to accurately assess what we have. But there have been two pieces published over the last week regarding the Wolves, and since the most valuable commodity of any sports team is hope, let's take a look to the future.… Continue

TWolfPack LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES

There are a lot of excuses being thrown at us about why the Wolves have lost 11 straight games and are on pace to set the all-time record for worst season at 7-75. Ignoring the fact that we're just not as talented as the teams we're playing, we've had poor drafting (Rubio and Flynn followed by Flynn over Jennings), complicated schemes (hello triangle offense), and injuries blamed for the team's poor start. Today we're going to explore option No. 3 ... injuries. More specifically, Kevin Love's i… Continue

TWolfPack 2010 NBA Draft Watch: November 13th Edition

The college basketball season is just starting and the 2010 NBA Draft is more than seven months away, but that doesn't mean that we can't start to take a look at who might be available when the Wolves could potentially have three first round draft picks. First, let's take a few seconds to recap the Timberwolves draft picks for next June. They could end up with as many as three first rounders, or as few as zero, depending on how the standings look at the end of the season. Most likely, the Wolv… Continue

TWolfPack Call Me Crazy, But We Should Trade for McGrady

Yes ... that Tracy McGrady. The 30-year-old, 43% shooting, coming off of microfracture surgery, making over $23 million Tracy McGrady. Now, now ... I can feel some of you pulling away from me, but give me a chance to explain. I'm not asking the Wolves to give up much, only the expiring contracts of Mark Blount, Brian Cardinal and Damien Wilkins. You'll have to agree with me that the team would be giving up little, if any, actual production. Doing this trade would save Houston over $5 million t… Continue

TWolfPack Statistically Finding The Wolves Next Wing Player

With the Timberwolves riding a six-game losing streak, I figured now would be as good of time as any to explore how to upgrade the current roster. With the team desperately in need of help on the wings, I sought out which player(s) in the league would be the best fit to improve the team moving forward. First I decided that the two areas where the team needed the most help were outside shooting and interior defense. Granted, a wing player doesn't make a huge effect with their defensive post play… Continue

TWolfPack Wolves Pick Up Options on Love, Brewer

via StarTribune.com ...
Not surprisingly, the Wolves picked up the 2010-11 contract options on Kevin Love and Corey Brewer. They did not pick up the 2010 option on F/C Oleksiy Pecherov, one of the players acquired in the draft-day trade with Washington that landed the Wolves Ricky Rubio and cost them Mike Miller and Randy Foye. Pech

TWolfPack Ricky Rubio Watch: October 13

Ricky Rubio scored the first basket for Regal FC Barcelona in their ACB Season on Saturday. Unfortunately, it was his only basket. Rubio shot 1-4 (0-3 from behind the arc) while finishing with two points, three rebounds and four assists in 14:28 on the court. He was the starting point guard, though, and his team defeated league newcomers Xacobeo Blu:Sens (I have no idea what's up with these team names) 80-63. For a recap of th… Continue
